Northrop to support B-2 stealth bombers under $9.9B contract

Northrop Grumman has won a $9.9 billion contract to modernize and sustain stealth bombers for the Air Force.

This contract is called the Flexible Acquisition Sustainment Team (FAST) II contract, and calls for enhancements, sustainment logistics, sustaining engineering, software maintenance, depot maintenance and support equipment, the Defense Department said in a release.

The B-2 is able to penetrate dense anti-aircraft defenses, and can be deployed with both conventional and nuclear weapons.

Work will be performed in Palmdale, Calif., Whiteman Air Force Base, Mo., Tinker Air Force Base, Okla., Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, Edwards Air Force Base, Calif., and Hill Air Force Base, Utah, and is expected to be completed by May 2, 2024.
