Army picks Symbol's RFID readers

Five of Symbol Technologies Inc.'s partners were awarded blanket purchase agreements from the Army for the company's RFID readers.

Five of Symbol Technologies Inc.'s partners were awarded blanket purchase agreements from the Army Contracting Agency Information Technology, E-Commerce and Commercial Contracting Center for the company's RFID readers, said officials from the firm headquartered in Holtsville, NY.

A blanket purchase agreement establishes a nearly paperless ordering process for products.

The awards were made to CDO Technologies Inc., Cheval Rouge LLC, RSI ID Technologies Inc., SYS-TEC Corp. and WFI Government Services Inc., Symbol officials said.

Symbol's multi-protocol reader provides data capture to read, write, process and communicate information from electronic product code-compliant passive RFID tags. The technology will assist the DOD in tracking materials and supplies throughout the agency's supply chain.
