Tom Trezza Jr. has been named senior vice president and publisher of Washington Technology and its sister publication, Government Computer News.
Trezza, a 17-year veteran of the GCN sales force, had been acting publisher. His promotion was part of a broad reorganization of the papers' parent company, PostNewsweek Tech Media of Washington. Alec Dann was named senior vice president for Internet publishing, and Thomas Temin senior vice president for editorial. All three report to David Greene, president of PostNewsweek Tech Media.
The company will focus exclusively on the business-to-government marketplace, and has ceased publication of Washington Techway, a magazine serving technology companies in the greater Washington region. Techway publisher Cliff Chiet was named executive vice president of a new PostNewsweek Tech Media department, the Custom Media Group. Techway editor Lloyd Batzler becomes Internet editor for Washington Technology and GCN, responsible for content of the publications' Web sites, www.gcn.com and www.washingtontechnology.com.
PostNewsweek Tech Media chief executive officer Chuck Lyons said that while the advertising market for Washington-region business publications would remain weak for the foreseeable future, in 2002 the company achieved solid financial results with Washington Technology, GCN, FOSE, a government-oriented technology trade show and conference, and its other business-to-government efforts.
