ACS inks Indiana pharmacy benefit management deal

Affiliated Computer Services Inc. won a two-year, $16 million contract from the state of Indiana for pharmacy benefit management services, the company announced Sept. 30.

The contract, which has two one-year options, will support both the Indiana Medicaid and Hoosier Rx programs, the company said. The latter is a program that supports senior citizens by paying a portion of their prescription drug expenses.

Under the contract, ACS will provide a broad range of pharmaceutical benefits services for both programs.

For Indiana Medicaid, ACS will provide pharmaceutical claims processing, drug utilization review, rebate and prior authorization services, a decision support system, provider relations and support to the Therapeutic Consultation Program and Therapeutic Academic Intervention.

For the Hoosier Rx program, ACS will provide claims processing, drug utilization review, identification card and production and provider relations services.

ACS is a provider of business process outsourcing and information technology solutions. The company has about 40,000 employees and annual sales of $3 billion, according to Hoover's Online of Austin, Texas.
