SRA snares $27 million order for services to Defense Department office

SRA International Inc. won a task order worth up to $27 million over five years to provide database design and development and other information technology services to the Defense Manpower Data Center, the company announced Sept. 30.

The DMDC supports the information management needs of the Office of the Undersecretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness and maintains a central archive of personnel, manpower, training, security and financial data. The information assists in departmentwide tracking, analyses, research, studies, reporting requirements and operational requirements.

With this new order, SRA of Fairfax, Va., will provide database engineering, data warehousing, systems engineering, software development and information security services and solutions to support systems at DMDC. The SRA team includes Dreifus Associates Ltd. of Lake Mary, Fla., and Star One Inc., Denver.

"The innovative technical solutions we provide will help DMDC fulfill its mission to improve the effectiveness, efficiency and productivity of personnel operations throughout DoD." Volgenau said SRA has been working with DMDC for more than 20 years on a wide range of IT services.

SRA has 2,100 employees in offices across the country. The company booked revenue of more than $361 million in fiscal year 2002, which ended June 30, 16 percent higher than the previous year.
