General Dynamics takes $2B State global supply chain contract

With the protests behind it, General Dynamics IT retains a $2 billion supply chain contract to support the State Department.
With protests by a competitor cleared out of the way, General Dynamics IT has retained a $2 billion supply chain contract with the State Department.
GDIT officially clinched the "Global Security Engineering and Supply Chain Services" contract after a protest by AECOM unit URS. That protest was dismissed by the Government Accountability Office as the procurement was adjusted and GDIT again was selected.
The single-award contract supports the State Department’s Bureau of Diplomatic Security, Countermeasures Director. It has a five year base and a five-year option.
The new contract expands the work GDIT did under the predecessor contract won in 2012. The company will provide a turnkey solution consisting of technical security systems, engineering and solution development. It also includes a hybrid supply chain and distribution management system and a global logistics and transportation network.
GDIT will tie the different systems together into a system of systems in an effort to improve efficiency and lower costs, as well as customer services.
“GDIT delivers millions of security-related items to embassies and high-threat posts worldwide,” GDIT Senior Vice President and civilian business lead Paul Nedzbala said in a company statement.
