Tech subcommittee director heads back to private sector

Robert Dix, staff director for the House Government Reform Subcommittee on Technology, Information Policy, Intergovernmental Relations and the Census, will leave Capital Hill for a job in the private sector after Jan. 1, said David Marin, press secretary for the Government Reform Committee.

Dix will join Citadel Security Software Inc. of Dallas as vice president for government affairs and corporate development.

"This was a difficult decision to leave," Dix said. "It has been an honor and privilege to work with [Reps.] Tom Davis and Adam Putnam and the talented subcommittee staff. We have made a lot of progress in trying to advance a number areas of the President's Management Agenda."

Under Dix's direction, the subcommittee held 39 hearings over two years, mostly on IT issues such as enterprise architecture, e-government, cybersecurity and IT management.

In his new position, Dix said, he will work with federal, state and local governments and the private sector on cybersecurity issues.

"This role will provide me with an opportunity to continue to work on making this nation safer," Dix said. "It is time for this opportunity in the private sector and to work on these issues that have become very important to me."

Dix previously served as president and chief operating officer for FedComp Inc. of Fairfax, Va., and Sportscombine Inc. of Vienna, Va.
