DynCorp Wins $150M FHA Seat Management Contract

DynCorp has been awarded a task order under the GSA Seat Management contract to standardize and consolidate the Federal Highway Administration's distributed computing environment.

DynCorp, an information technology and outsourcing services firm in Reston, Va., has been awarded a task order under the GSA Seat Management contract to standardize and consolidate the Federal Highway Administration's distributed computing environment, the company announced May 1.

The 10-year, $150 million contract was awarded to DynCorp's affiliate, DynCorp TechServ. The work will enable the agency to implement an IT infrastructure that will increase staff efficiency and productivity.

DynCorp will establish and sustain managed life-cycle support services for the transition to the new system, and 24-hour, seven-day-a-week maintenance to geographically dispersed users of the system.

The services are designed to support the agency's critical IT investment strategy and fulfill federally mandated IT management criteria in the Clinger-Cohen Act of 1996, which is intended improve government performance through the effective application of information technology.

The contract shows that seat management is gaining acceptance as an approach to comprehensive desktop administration, said Fred Gantzler, president of DynCorp TechServ.

"With this award, DynCorp TechServ is better positioned to provide desktop management services to other agencies considering this approach," Ganzler said.

DynCorp TechServ is currently providing similar services to the Department of Housing and Urban Development Office of the Inspector General and to the Commonwealth of Virginia.
