Three Government Agencies Tap PeopleSoft Software

NOV. 8 ? PeopleSoft Inc. of Pleasanton, Calif., has been selected by three federal government organizations to provide software for upgrading and replacing financial management and human resource systems, company officials said.
The Federal Election Commission selected PeopleSoft to replace its core financial management system.
Under FEC's Information Technology Modernization Plan, the commission will implement PeopleSoft's Financials for Education and Government software to streamline operations, secure internal controls and promote accurate and timely reporting, according to PeopleSoft.
The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission is using PeopleSoft Financials 7.5 for Education and Government for accounts payable, general ledger and purchasing. The commission also is using PeopleSoft's human resources applications.
The Department of Agriculture will be the first federal government customer to use PeopleSoft 8.
Agriculture is upgrading from PeopleSoft 7.0 HRMS Federal to PeopleSoft 8.0 in fiscal year 2001. The agency chose PeopleSoft because its applications met many of the agency's requirements, such as allowing for easier adjustments and customized applications.
The agency has nearly 54,000 employees on PeopleSoft applications and plans to use the human resource processes, including benefits administration and payroll interface, the company said.
