Sigma Defense books $250M data center support contract

Sigma Defense Systems books a $250 million contract to help the Defense Department install data centers and other methods of connecting to airborne assets.

Sigma Defense Systems has booked a five-year, $250 million contract for work to help the Defense Department install data centers and other methods of connecting to airborne assets.

The General Services Administration awarded the contract on behalf of DOD, which Sigma Defense said Thursday sought to bolster abilities in distributing sensor data across the military.

Conventional and special operations forces have access to the contract that supports manned and unmanned airborne assets used in missions for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance.

“This program is another step forward in ensuring joint all domain command and control capabilities are available on demand for our forces globally,” Sigma Defense CEO Matt Jones said in a release.

Backed by private equity firm Sagewind Capital, Sigma Defense will also work with the department on integrating ISR sensors and communication components to support sensor data processing and dissemination.
