BAE's US subsidiary, L3Harris detail board moves

A pair of the defense industry's leading blue chip players have detailed changes in the ranks of their boards of directors, including one election of a new chair and appointment of an additional member.

The new board chair of BAE Systems' U.S. subsidiary is former Sen. Kelly Ayotte, whom that company said Monday was elected for a three-year term to that position.

Ayotte first joined the BAE Systems Inc.'s board in 2017 and succeeds former chair Michael Chertoff, the former homeland security secretary that was first elected to the board in 2010 and became its leader two years later.

Board move number two comes from L3Harris Technologies as that company's group of directors elected new member in Harry Harris, former U.S. ambassador to South Korea and a retired Navy admiral.

Harris becomes the 13th member of L3Harris’ board that expands with his appointment, the company said Friday.

He served in the ambassador post from 2018 to 2021 after retiring from the Navy, which he served a four-decade career in that culminated with service as commander of Pacific Command.
