Raytheon to acquire space electronics maker

Find opportunities — and win them.

Raytheon Technologies plans to acquire a space electronics maker and this deal represents the aerospace-and-defense giant's second in less than a year focused on that market.

Raytheon Technologies has agreed to acquire space electronics maker SEAKR Engineering, which will subsequently become a subsidiary of the former’s intelligence and space segment.

Neither the terms of the deal nor timing of closure were disclosed Tuesday, but the Raytheon Intelligence & Space segment will add nearly 540 employees from SEAKR.

Founded in 1981, SEAKR supplies its products to government agencies such as NASA and the Defense Department along with other large defense hardware companies.

SEAKR’s product lines include systems and other offerings for data management, processing, avionics and communications.

This acquisition follows Raytheon’s purchase in December of small satellite maker Blue Canyon Technologies, which also became part of the Raytheon Intelligence & Space segment.
