Drone maker Volansi appoints Roper CEO

Commercial drone maker Volansi appoints former AIr Force acquisition chief Will Roper as CEO nearly four months after he joined the board of directors.
Four months after joining Volansi’s board of directors, former Air Force acquisition chief Will Roper has been tapped to lead the commercial drone maker as CEO.
He will oversee Volansi’s push to further expand its offerings of autonomous vertical takeoff-and-landing delivery vehicles for medium and heavy-weight payloads, the company said Thursday.
San Francisco-headquartered Volansi was founded in 2015 and its primary investors are Lightspeed Venture Partners and Icon Ventures.
Volansi designs its drones for commercial, federal and humanitarian entities to use in missions involving transportation and control of their supply chains.
Roper most recently was assistant Air Force secretary for acquisition, technology and logistics with responsibility over an estimated $60 billion budget involving research, development, testing, production, modernization and logistics programs.
