SAIC books another big win with Army customer

Science Applications International Corp. confirms its fourth in a series of contract wins with the same customer to provide engineering services around aviation, modeling and simulation and the testing of embedded systems.
Science Applications International Corp. has secured a potential eight-year, $3.6 billion contract that extends its work with the Army's Combat Capabilities Command, Aviation and Missile Center.
This is another in a series of wins with this customer. SAIC is specifically supporting the Software, Simulation, Systems Engineering and Integration Directorate at the command.
The company provides services supporting hardware-in-the-loop and modeling and simulation development. Hardware-in-the-loop is used to development and test complex embedded systems.
SAIC will test aircraft components such as electronic control units and line-replaceable units by running them through complex scenarios, the company said.
SAIC also will work on efforts focused on force protection, trainers, and virtual, interactive and multimedia systems.
Work under this contract will take place in Huntsville, Alabama. It was awarded as a task order under the OASIS vehicle.
The win caps a string awards for the company that total $8.1 billion in ceiling value to support this directorate over the last year. The awards include a $2.9 billion contract for software development and maintenance services, an $830 million contract for aviation systems engineering, and an $800 million contract for modeling and simulation systems engineering support services.
