GSA tries again at awards for $5.5B IT product vehicle
The General Services Administration makes a second attempt at awards for a $5.5 billion IT product vehicle primarily for the Air Force but available to all agencies.
The General Services Administration has completed its second attempt at awards for the $5.5 billion 2nd Generation IT blanket purchase agreement known as 2GIT.
GSA designed this contract to replace the Air Force’s much troubled NetCents 2 IT products vehicle. GSA and the Air Force named 75 winners of 2GIT in November 2019, including 56 small businesses.
But those awards were met with protests that derailed the process. GSA then pulled the awards back and reworked the procurement.
Of the 79 new awards, 22 went to large businesses and 59 to small firms. Click here to see a list of the winners.
The new contract is available for any agency to use, not just the Air Force. 2GIT covers the purchases of IT hardware and software products and related services.
2GIT also is considered a "Best in Class vehicle" because of its streamlined purchasing processes and the procurement data it collects for the agencies that use it.
Small businesses on the contract cover the range of categories including woman-owned, HUBZone, service-disabled, veteran-owned and 8(a).
“Increasing access for small businesses and under-served communities within federal acquisition is an important goal for GSA,” said Federal Acquisition Service Commissioner Sonny Hashmi said in a release.
Large businesses with spots on the vehicle include such familiar names as Carahsoft Technology, DLT Solutions, Force3, immixGroup, Iron Bow Technologies and World Wide Technology.
