General Dynamics, Microsoft ink new cloud partnership pact

Just off one announcement related to Amazon’s cloud offering, General Dynamics IT has unveiled its signing of a new partner agreement with Microsoft regarding the latter’s cloud service.

The new agreement between GDIT and Microsoft provides federal customers access to Azure services and offerings, along with Azure Government’s classified regions.

GDIT said Thursday this also covers the migration of Defense Department customers to both Microsoft 365 and Azure under the $4.4 billion DEOS contract clinched late last year.

Short for Defense Enterprise Office Solutions, the DEOS effort covers the rollout of cloud-based email and other collaboration tools across DOD’s enterprise.

“Clients across the federal government are rapidly adopting cloud and software-as-a-service solutions,” GDIT Chief Technology Officer Ben Gianni said in a release. “GDIT’s agreement with Microsoft is an important component of our cloud strategy and provides federal customers the full set of offerings to meet their enterprise and mission requirements.”

“This agreement will further solidify this relationship through GDIT’s deep knowledge of the government programs to enable cloud technology to support modernization and digital transformation efforts across the federal government,” added Greg Myers, vice president of Microsoft’s federal arm.

Earlier this week, GDIT said users across the Defense Department can now access cloud hosting services from Amazon Web Services through the milCloud 2.0 contract.
