Former Lockheed CTO joins unmanned vehicle software firm

Ray Johnson, the former Lockheed Martin chief technology officer, joins the board of directors at a startup focused on developing software for unmanned vehicles.
Ray Johnson, the former Lockheed Martin chief technology officer, has been appointed to the board of directors at unmanned vehicle software provider Auterion Government Solutions.
“He brings with him extensive experience in developing and executing growth and technology strategies across industry and government,” Auterion GS Chairman and CEO Dave Sharpin said in a release Tuesday.
“(Johnson’s) experience and leadership will be invaluable as we execute on our vision to enable a new ecosystem of unmanned aircraft systems that will provide expanded capabilities to our U.S. defense and security customers.”
Headquartered in Greater Los Angeles, Auterion GS is a subsidiary of its Switzerland-based parent that has developed avionics software and an operating system through open source methods. Auterion was founded in 2017 and opened the U.S. office two years later to concentrate on growth among government customers there.
Auterion’s U.S. operations are led by Sharpin, a three-decade aerospace sector veteran whose career includes executive roles at AeroVironment and Orbital ATK.
