CenturyLink has a new name: Lumen Technologies
CenturyLink changes its name to Lumen Technologies to better reflect how the company sees the market.
CenturyLink is dropping that name and rebranding itself Lumen Technologies.
The new name reflects what the company described as a new focus on how it views the market and the prevalence of connected devices.
“The 4th Industrial Revolution represents the latest technological shift to change how everyone lives, works and thrives,” Lumen said in its announcement.
“Lumen is all about enabling the amazing potential of our customers, by utilizing our technology platform, our people, and our relationships with customers and partners,” CEO Jeff Storey said.
Lumen is focused on emerging technologies that are enabling smart cities, retail and industrial robotics, real-time virtual collaboration and automated factories, Lumen said.
“All of our futures will be driven by smart things, applications and digital services that use data for transformational purposes,” said Shaun Andrews, executive vice president and chief marketing officer. “To serve this colossal need and further human progress through technology, we have launched Lumen and are delivering our technology through the Lumen Platform, a platform for amazing things.”
The Lumen Platform brings together the company’s fiber network infrastructure, edge cloud capabilities and security and communication and collaboration solutions, the company said.
Lumen does not intend to change its strategy or financial reporting structure, but its stock ticker will change to LUMN on Sept. 18. Also underway is the process for a legal name change.
