Army taps 31 firms for $13B ITES-SW 2 vehicle

The Army has made 31 awards for its $13 billion IT Enterprise Solutions – Software 2 contract that the service will use to buy a wide range of software products and related services.
The Army has made 31 awards for its $13 billion IT Enterprise Solutions – Software 2 contract that the service will use to buy a wide range of software products and related services.
The contract covers 14 specific product categories: audio/visual; business and finance; communication; database; education; internet; modeling and simulation; multimedia and design; network operations; Office suite; operating systems; programming and development; IT utility and security; and specialized.
Among the winners are eight companies designated as small businesses.
The Army also announced that it received 32 bids, so that leaves just one company sitting on the outside looking in. We’ll be watching to see if this lone company will file a protest. Given how recent the award was (Aug. 31) and that the Defense Department uses an enhanced debriefing process that includes more back and forth between the government and the companies, it might be a few weeks yet.
For now these are the 31 winners. An asterisk designates a small business. We’ve included the individual contract numbers as well.

ITES-SW 2 greatly expands the scope and the number of contractors. Under ITES-SW 1, there were three vendors – Four, ImmixGroup and Carahsoft. They competed for work under just four areas – IT utility and security; modeling and simulation; program and development; and multimedia. The three companies also won spots on ITES-SW 3.
The new contract has a five-year base and five one-year options.
