Navy extends Perspecta's hardware work for NGEN

Perspecta gets a four-month, $62.1 million extension of the hardware portion of its NGEN contract as the transition to HP Inc. continues.
Perspecta has gotten slightly more runway on the hardware portion of its NGEN contract with the Navy amid both a transition on that front and a protest for the software and services piece.
The Navy on Wednesday awarded Perspecta a four-month, $62.1 million extension that expands end user hardware services to July 31 of this year from the prior expiration date of March.
HP Inc.’s federal subsidiary is due to take over the supply of hardware for the Next Generation Enterprise Network under a potential $1.4 billion contract awarded in April.
For this iteration of NGEN, the Navy broke it up into one track for hardware and a second larger piece at up to $7.7 billion for software and other systems integration services won by Leidos in February.
General Dynamics IT this week filed a protest against the award to Leidos of NGEN’s so-called SMIT portion for Service Management, Integration and Transport.
Perspecta is currently under contract through December for the SMIT work and that new contract has a requirement for a nine-month transition out once it starts.
