Cerner gets new chair, board members for government advisory panel

Cerner's government board of advisers elects a new chairman and also elects four new members to steer the health IT company's public sector strategy.
Cerner said Monday that Patrick Murphy, former Army Undersecretary and Democratic representative from Florida, has been elected chairman of the health IT company’s government advisory board that also added four new members.
The board provides direction to Cerner’s leadership team on development, sustainment and outreach efforts with federal agencies, health care providers, veteran and military communities and service organizations.
Kansas City-based Cerner is the prime contractor for the Veterans Affairs Department’s next-generation electronic health record implementation, as well as a subcontractor to Leidos for the Defense Department’s own EHR rollout based on Cerner’s Millennium product.
Murphy succeeds as chair Bob Kerrey, the former senator and governor of Nebraska.
The four new board members are Anthony Principi, former VA secretary; Gregory Gadson, former director of the Army Wounded Warrior Program; Artie Shelton, director of the Veterans Health Council for Vietnam Veterans of America; and Rina Shah, CEO of Peridot Technologies.
They join current board members James Peake, also a former VA secretary; Mark Probst, chief information officer of Intermountain Healthcare; and Donald Scott, founding director of AmeriCorps.
