Gansler fellowship to focus on procurement research

The late Jacques Gansler spent his career pushing for ways to make acquisition work better. He understood that acquisition was at the center of national security and better government.

When Gansler died last year at age 84, he was remembered for his passion and his dedication to serving a greater good.

A new research fellowship is being launched in his name as way of sustaining his legacy. The fellowships could be as large as $10,000 and is being administered by the Professional Services Council Foundation and the Procurement Roundtable.

The Jacques S. Gansler Fellowships will support students who are conducting research around Gansler’s areas of passion: national security, the public-private nexus, acquisition and technology.

“The PSC Foundation is honored to join with the PRT in launching this special research fund focused on the interests Jack dedicated his career to,” President and CEO David Berteau said in a statement.

“Jack was not only one of the smartest people I ever worked with but also the most passionate about making acquisition work better,” Stan Soloway said at the time of Gansler’s death. Soloway was Gansler’s deputy at the Defense Department when Gansler served as undersecretary of defense for acquisition, technology and logistics.

The first Gansler Fellowships should be awarded in 2020 and the application process opens Dec. 15. Criteria and application information are available here.
