LMI awarded $65M CMS shared savings program contract

Nonprofit consultancy LMI receives a $65 million contract to help the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services in its work with health care providers and suppliers to track payments.
Nonprofit consultancy LMI has secured a potential $65 million contract to help the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services operationalize a program that helps health care providers and suppliers track payments.
As the Shared Savings Program Operational Support contractor, LMI will work with CMS to monitor and assess performance of organizations that provide care to nearly 10.9 million Medicare fee-for-service beneficiaries.
The contract has a one-year base period of performance followed by four individual option years, LMI said Thursday.
Tysons, Virginia-based LMI has worked with CMS for nearly 25 years on efforts to improve health care outcomes, LMI Vice President Pat Tamburrino, Jr. said in a release.
Providers who act as so-called Accountable Care Organizations submit applications to participate in the Shared Services Program, for which LMI maintains a panel of experts that review them for accuracy, completeness and compliance with program requirements.
LMI also helps CMS develop and distribute education and outreach materials.
