Leidos expands role on Air Force regional IT contract

Leidos has won a potential five-year, $445.3 million contract for IT services to the Air Force in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan region.

Three total bids were submitted for the indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract that covers work of both a classified and unclassified nature, the Defense Department said in its Tuesday awards digest.

This iteration of the work called Air Force National Capital Region Information Technology Services appears to be a consolidation of requirements from three prior contracts, of which Leidos held one that was awarded via the Alliant 1 Unrestricted vehicle.

Sapient Corp. and Technica Corp. held the other two pieces for information assurance services and IT operations support respectively, according to Deltek data. Sapient was awarded its contract via Alliant 1 Small Business and Technica via the Netcents 2 Small Business vehicle.

Reston, Virginia-based Leidos’ main locations of work will include the Pentagon, Joint Base Andrews in Maryland and Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling in Washington.

Solicitation documents indicate the company’s responsibilities include not just providing IT and telecommunications services but other related areas like program management, operations and maintenance, and support of the National Military Command Center.

The NMCC supports the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff in monitoring of global events and nuclear activity, plus management of crisis response.
