Air Force developing wargaming contact

The Air Force wants to incorporate more AI and machine learning to improve its wargames.

The Air Force is developing a contract to improve how it manages wargames and to pull in more data to improve the effectiveness of the training and readiness tool.

The contract will incorporate automation, artificial intelligence, machine learning and analytics as tools for assessing Air Force wargames and their planning, resourcing and execution.

According to a draft performance work statement, the Air Force wants a proof of concept that creates initial analytics and optimization models as well as a user interface to run scenarios. The proof of concept will cover a single weapons system and a single squadron.

The contractor will demonstrate a prototype at the Pacific Air Forces Watch Center in Honolulu. The prototype will be built for use by 15 users and five concurrent users.

Some of the capabilities the Air Force wants includes:

  • Predictive modeling
  • Utilization and optimization of installation resources
  • Visualization prototype
  • Ability to run and save various scenarios

The RFI includes six use cases including identifying operational forces and logistics support needed to operate out of different, unidentified bases. The use cases also include pre-positioning for operations.
