GSA awards $100M 'Centers of Excellence' pact to guide IT modernization
GSA has awarded a series of BPAs to help agencies with IT modernization projects and incorporate new technologies and related processes.
The General Services Administration has made awards on an almost $100 million blanket purchase agreement for various IT modernization projects in an effort to guide agencies through the process of incorporating new technologies and related processes.
In a release Tuesday, GSA broke out awards for its three-year Centers of Excellence Discovery BPA into seven categories: change management, cloud adoption, contact center, customer experience, data analytics, information security and IT infrastructure optimization.
GSA started the Discovery BPA as a vehicle to give the CoE and future agency partners the ability to perform numerous assessment efforts at multiple agencies simultaneously. CoE is an initiative backed by the White House and came out of the Office of Innovation led by presidential son-in-law Jared Kushner.
These awards follow an initial round in March of last year to kick off the broader CoE effort at the Agriculture Department, then a second phase in October that again saw work begin at USDA. GSA sees Agriculture as the “first lighthouse agency” to act as an early proving round for modernization efforts.
The Housing and Urban Development Department was the second CoE agency and covers the same core functional areas as USDA, but substitutes change management for IT infrastructure optimization and adds information security to the cloud adoption focus.
The Discovery BPA thus represents a shift away from that partner agency approach used in the prior two phases. Companies could be selected for more than one area for the Discovery BPA.
