Booz Allen protests $500M Air Force contract ahead of award

With an expected award less than two months away, Booz Allen Hamilton has filed a protest objecting to how a $500 million Air Force ISR support contract is progressing so far.

The firm's pre-award protest of the Air Combat Command ISR Support contract may delay the award past its anticipated timeframe of May.

Booz Allen declined to comment on what it is protesting. At this stage, there are several possibilities. And sometimes companies file pre-award protests to set a stake in the ground on issues they think might come into play later.

While the protest is pending, the Air Force can continue to evaluate proposals but generally cannot make an award.

The Air Force contract is a new one and consolidates several other contracts. It is being competed under the General Services Administration's OASIS vehicle. According to Deltek, some of the contracts being consolidated are small business contracts that support the command.

Some of the work includes configuration management and engineering support, ISR systems management integration support, web services, network systems management, and network infrastructure management.

There also is project management support and intelligence support, including mission planning, imagery analysis and support for the infrastructure disseminating imagery.

The contract is expected to be for one year with four one-year options.

Booz Allen filed its protest March 25 and a decision is expected July 3.
