SEC awards small business piece of $2.5B IT contract

The Securities and Exchange Commission has awarded the small business portion of a potential 10-year, $2.5 billion contract for enterprise IT services across the agency.

Fifteen small firms announced in a Friday award notice will join the previously-chosen three large business winners for the SEC’s “One OIT” contract that covers any and all components of IT services as the agency’s technology requirements evolve.

One OIT is a consolidation of several current contracts into a single, integrated vehicle. Accenture Federal Services, Attain and Booz Allen Hamilton won the large business slots in May.

All is not lost for those who have not been selected for this vehicle however. The SEC plans to carry out an on-ramping process “soon after this initial round of awards,” according to the award notice. That will also include an off-ramp component as well.

The contract’s scope of work covers technology areas such as big data, cloud computing, data center consolidation, digital services, mobility, IT help desk, IT operations and maintenance, open source, telecommunications, virtualization and web analytics.
