Army makes second round of awards for $37.4B RS3 vehicle

The Army makes a second round of awards against its $37.4 billion “RS3” contract vehicle for professional support services.
The Army has made a second round of awards against its 10-year, $37.4 billion “RS3” contract vehicle for professional support services one year after the initial batch.
This time around, the Army issued 198 awards for the first on-ramp of the massive Responsive Strategic Sourcing for Services contract alongside the 55 made in the first cut. That comes out to 253 total awards so far after the latest group was announced in the Pentagon’s Thursday awards digest.

Notably in the large business track, several large incumbents from RS3's predecessor contracts were chosen for the on-ramp. That group includes CACI International, Leidos, Northrop Grumman, Raytheon and Science Applications International Corp.
But just like with phase one, all is not lost for disappointed bidders that have not won a spot on this massive vehicle. An on-ramp is planned for year three of RS3 followed by another in year six.
All RS3 awardees will vie for task orders for services to support C4ISR systems -- command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance. The goal is to more rapidly support the lifecycles of those systems.
RS3 is a consolidation of a pair of predecessor vehicles: Strategic Services Sourcing also known as S3, and Rapid Response – 3rd Generation that goes by the acronym R2-3G.
