GD-Raytheon JV takes $502M test site support contract

A joint venture of General Dynamics and Raytheon has won a potential 10-year, $502.2 million contract for engineering and technical services to the Army at a ballistic missile defense test site.

Range Generation Next LLC bested three other bids for the contract, the Defense Department said in its Tuesday awards digest.

This contract covers support services to the so-called Reagan Test Site on the Marshall Islands in the Pacific Ocean. The site located on Kwajalein Island in the Kwajalein Atoll is a test facility for missile defense and space research programs.

Founded in 2013, RGNext is also the Air Force’s main contractor for operations, maintenance and sustainment services as part of the separate Launch Test and Range System Integrated Support Contract. The Air Force started the LISC initiative to consolidate three predecessor contracts.

RGNext won the potential 10-year, $2 billion LISC award in 2014 to support the Air Force’s two main launch ranges at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida, and Vandenberg Air Force Base in California.

The current Reagan Test Site contract has been held by another joint venture in Kawajalein Range Services LLC since 2003. Its primary partners are Bechtel and Leidos with Berry Aviation and Chugach Alaska Corp. as major subcontractors.
