Raytheon elevates Azevedo to space segment lead

Raytheon has promoted three-decade company veteran Roy Azevedo to president of the defense contractor’s space and airborne systems segment, effective Sept. 1.

Azevedo will succeed Richard Yuse, who plans to retire from the company Dec. 31 after service as a senior adviser, Raytheon said Wednesday.

More recently, Azevedo has worked as vice president and general manager of the SAS segment’s intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance mission area. He currently is on the board of Raytheon’s Saudi Arabia business

Yuse joined Raytheon in 1976 and has led the SAS segment for eight years. Prior to that he was president of the former Raytheon Technical Services Company business that provided training services and mission support to government and commercial customers.

The $4.3 billion space and airborne systems segment builds radars and sensor systems for aerial and space-based platforms. SAS also provides communications, electronic warfare, high-energy laser technologies and special mission aircraft use in for network-centric battlefields.
