Colsa takes $107M NASA shared services data center contract

Colsa Corp. has won a potential seven-year, $107.4 million contract to help NASA operate a data center that provides shared services to other federal agencies.

This is version two of the National Center for Critical Information Processing and Storage contract and it begins on Aug. 1 with a 60-day phase-in period, NASA said Monday. The new contract has a one-year base period followed by four one-year options and three one-year award term options.

Also known as "NCCIPS," the data center facility is located in NASA's Shared Services Center at Stennis Space Center in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi. NCCIPS provides collocation services to other federal agencies in support of the government's ongoing efforts to consolidate its data center inventory.

Contract work will include secure facility operations, maintenance, management, environmental analysis, energy management, information technology, system power and network integration.

The current and original NCCIPS services contract is held by Science Applications International Corp., which first won the work in 2013. That contract expires on Sept. 30 and has an estimated $72.1 million ceiling. NASA awarded the contract as a task order through the Alliant 1 IT services and solutions acquisition vehicle.
