AECOM books $3.1B test range services contract

A subsidiary of AECOM has won a potential 15-year, $3.1 billion contract to continue its operation and maintenance services for military test ranges in the western U.S.
Awarded by the Air Force, the contract extends work performed by the JT4 Limited Liability Company under a previous 15-year award that expired Sept. 30, 2017. AECOM CEO Michael Burke said in a release Wednesday that the contract helps further AECOM as the primary range support services partner of the Air Force and Navy.
The award comes slightly less than a year after AECOM -- through its URS Federal Services arm -- wrestled away a separate $3.6 billion Air Force range support services contract from longtime incumbent PAE.
JT4’s contract is known as Joint Range Technical Services II, or J-Tech II and traces its origins back to 2000 when the Defense Department consolidated engineering and technical support for western test ranges into a single “J-Tech” contract. The business competed for and won the contract in 2001 under the name of JT3, then rebranded to JT4 for the recompete just won.
The J-Tech II contract is for one base year followed by five one-year options, then up to nine one-year award term options that would extend it to the full ceiling value.
Work will take place at the 412th Test Wing, California; Utah Test and Training Range, Utah; Nevada Test and Training Range, Nevada; the Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division, California; and the Space Test and Training Range, Colorado.
