Unisys books $10M National Archives Google cloud project

Unisys' federal arm has received a potential five-year, $10 million contract to help the National Archives and Records Administration adopt a Google cloud-based email and collaboration system for the agency's 5,300 employees and contractors.

The contract to install the Google G Suite Enterprise runs for one base year and up to four option years, Unisys said Monday. National Archives seeks unlimited storage, plus continued support for both records management and mobile device management through the initiative.

Reston, Va.-based Unisys Federal Systems will work with the agency to install the platform and integrate it with the Archives' records management system.

This award also builds on a previous five-year contract Unisys received in 2012 to shift 4,500 National Archives users to the cloud-based Google Apps for Government system.

Unisys' government cloud portfolio includes a project to help the Nuclear Regulatory Commission move its high-performance computing operations into a cloud environment.

The company also helped transition the Interior Department's financial management system into a cloud and the General Services Administration shift its email and collaboration system into a cloud.
