System One buys GAP Solutions to add federal footprint

Professional staffing company System One has acquired government services contractor GAP Solutions in a push to grow offerings across the federal defense and civilian arenas.

Terms of the transaction were undisclosed and GAP Solutions will add 400 employees to System One, the companies said Wednesday.

Herndon, Va.-based GAP Solutions was founded in 1999 and focuses on the areas of human capital management, security process management, scientific and technical knowledge, and operations management.

GAP Solutions is on the $11.5 billion governmentwide Human Capital and Training Solutions contract run by the General Services Administration and Office of Personnel Management.

The company holds other vehicles with agencies such as the Navy, Army, National Institutes of Health, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and State Department.

System One is headquartered in Pittsburgh, has 7,000 employees and maintains four offices in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan region. Private equity firm Thomas H. Lee Partners acquired System One from another investment group MidOcean Partners in 2016.

GAP Solutions is the second acquisition System One has disclosed this year after a prior deal announced in September for multimedia staffing company TeamPeople, whose clients include commercial companies and inter-governmental organizations.

Investment bank Bluestone Capital Partners handled the GAP Solutions transaction. Clark Hill was System One’s legal adviser and The McQuillan Group assisted with the financial due diligence.
