Raytheon joins Pivotal partner network in agile, modernization push

Raytheon becomes part of tech firm Pivotal's global partner network as the defense contractor further pushes into more agile development and modernization work.
Raytheon has joined the partnership network of San Francisco-based technology company Pivotal to bring agile software development and other emerging technology services into the military.
The pact seeks to help defense agencies move their legacy applications to the cloud and speed up delivery timelines. Raytheon becomes a member of the Pivotal Ready Partner Program under the agreement, the companies said Tuesday.
This move by Raytheon is one of several the defense contractor has made to use what it calls a “modernization through sustainment” approach to upgrade technology gradually through quicker cycles.
Agencies are moving away from the normal 10-year development program cycle and toward a new model of periodic updates to legacy systems in a similar vein to the smartphone, Raytheon executive Todd Probert told Washington Technology in September.
