BAE Systems’ U.S. subsidiary has hired former General Dynamics IT business executive and three-decade industry veteran Al Whitmore as president of the intelligence and security sector.
Whitmore will officially join BAE Systems Inc. on Oct. 6 to lead the McLean, Va.-based business, BAE said Wednesday. He will take up the role formerly held by DeEtte Gray, now president of U.S. operations at CACI International.
At General Dynamics, Whitmore led the IT unit’s global solutions division as senior vice president with oversight of almost 6,000 employees across 18 countries.
He joined General Dynamics in 1999 upon the defense contractor’s acquisition of GTE Government Systems, where he held business development and other leadership positions over nearly 15 years.
