Accenture's federal arm adds Cybercom vet Franz

Accenture’s federal government subsidiary has hired retired Army Maj. Gen. and former Cyber Command Director of Operations George Franz to the business’ leadership team.

Franz will work with Accenture Federal Services’ agency customers to understand threats, identify ways to mitigate them and gain insight into defensive measures for their security postures. He will also help agencies with their efforts to figure out how they can improve security within budget constraints, AFS said Tuesday.

At Cybercom, Franz led work to plan and execute both military and interagency offensive and defensive cyberspace operations across the global network. He oversaw the Defense Department’s main cybersecurity center and coordinate network defense activities across dozens of military commands and government agencies in support of at least 3 million active users.

A 33-year Army veteran, Franz also is a former commanding general for the Army’s Intelligence and Security Command. In that role he directed worldwide intelligence operations to support seven combatant command theaters and combat operations that backed counterterrorism missions.

Prior to Army INSCOM, he was commanding general for the Cyber National Mission Force and was founding director of the Information Dominance Center for the coalition forces in Afghanistan.
