Draper books $37M missile defense tech research contract

Nonprofit organization Draper has received a five-year, $36.9 million contract to help the Missile Defense Agency research and analyze new guidance, control and navigation technologies.

Officially known as Charles Stark Draper Laboratory Inc., the organization will focus its work on sensors, modeling and simulation, radiation hardening, survivability, precision targeting and weapons development.

Draper's technical and analytical work will include evaluation, maturation, integration, test and demonstration services.

The cost-plus-fixed-fee contract was not awarded through competition. Work will take place at the lab's Cambridge, Mass. headquarters and in Huntsville, Ala. through July 2022.
