DHS wants to look over your shoulder

The Homeland Security Department wants to peek over your shoulder to see how companies prepare for doing business with the department.

DHS is hosting its Reverse Industry Day IV June 28 in Washington. DHS announced the event May 1, emphasizing it’s for training its own employees.

The Reverse Industry Day is a training event for DHS’s acquisition workforce to learn about the issues that are most important to companies when doing business with DHS. Officials want to better understand how industry goes about identifying and tracking DHS opportunities, pricing, proposal preparation, and other aspects related to DHS procurement.

The event is a part of DHS’s Acquisition Innovations in Motion and Unity of Effort initiatives. DHS is using them to structure and communicate its approach for industry engagement and acquisition initiatives designed to improve how the department approaches business.

The DHS Industry Liaison program and representatives from industry associations are planning the event. The event will be comprised government attendees, industry panelists, and a limited number of industry representatives picked by the associations.
