Former Unisys exec T.J. Miller dead at 70

Long time government contracting executive and Vietnam War veteran Thomas “T.J.” Miller, 70, died March 3, according to an obituary in the Washington Post.

Miller held several executive positions with companies in the federal space, starting with General Dynamics in 1983, where he became a vice president and worked on defense manufacturing and network solutions, according to his LinkedIn profile.

He later was vice president and general manager for Unisys’ federal business (1993-2000), an independent consultant (2000-2004), and vice president and general manager of Lucent Technologies government solutions business (2004-2006).

The last position on his profile was as vice president of national sales for Prepared Response (2007-2009).

According to his obituary, Miller was born in Sacramento, Calif., but grew up in Tampa, Fla. He was a captain in the U.S. Army, serving two tours as a helicopter pilot in Vietnam. His service earned him a Silver Star and the Distinguished Flying Cross.

Before entering the government contracting world, he was an aide to Rep. Charles Bennett of Florida and then assistant to the secretary of the Navy.

He is survived by his wife and two children.
