CBP plans 10-year data center contract

Customs and Border Protection plans to issue a solicitation at the end of March for a 10-year contract to provide data center support services.

CBP wants to create a single integrated contract that the agency can move its current dispersed operations and support services to. It also wants to work with the company to grow the daily operations of data center into a stable, predictable business environment.

The agency intends to make a single award for the contract.

The contract’s task areas include:

• IT program management
• Enterprise operations center support
• Local area network support
• Storage management
• Database services
• Mainframe operations
• General servers and virtualization
• Service design and transition support
• Enterprise middleware services
• Security engineering and IT security
• Identity credential access management
• Data engineering services
• Additional optional task areas include:
• Pay-as-you-go and on-demand cloud hosting services
• Business continuity planning

CBP officials have yet to establish the value of the contract.

CBP released the draft solicitation March 10. The agency is open to comments and suggestion from industry about the draft through March 17.
