McMurdo, Inc. has won a $3 million contract to supply FastFind 220 personal locator beacons (PLBs) to the Coast Guard to improve crew safety.
The FastFind 220 can notify emergency personnel during an emergency in risky environments. When the PLB is activated, it emits a distress signal that contains identification and location information through the international search and rescue satellite system, which is relayed to regional authorities.
Under the one-year contract with four option years, McMurdo will supply up to 16,000 of the beacons, the company said in a release.
