IG finds problems with OPM data breach cleanup contract

The Office of Personnel Management broke contract rulings when it rushed to hire a company to provide protections to federal workers exposed in a data breach.
FCW.com reported that a full report will be out within the month, but basically OPM didn’t follow Federal Acquisition Regulations when it issued a blanket purchase agreement to the Winvale Group and subcontractor CSID.
The solicitation was only open for 36 hours on FBO.gov, which is what drew a lot of the initial questions.
OPM’s inspector general began investigating after OPM officials brought it to the IG’s attention, according to an OPM spokesman.
