DISA plans for enhancing DOD network protection framework

The Defense Information System Agency is considering ways to enhance its Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Services (eMASS) system to protect the Defense Department from its net-centric connections with the private sector and civil and coalition partners.

In a new request for information, DISA’s Infrastructure Development Directorate wants to design and develop an automated information assurance (IA) management tool. The tool should provide for the integration and management of enterprise-wide systems via a web-based IA service.

DISA ID asked for feedback from businesses on application development, technical, and programmatic support of the Risk Management Framework (RMF) for DOD IT and the Defense Department Information Network (DODIN) IA architectures.

DISA ID plans to improve the eMASS system through system enhancements, maintaining and improving the security configuration of the system by RMF standards, and the ongoing operations of the system.

DISA ID wants a solution that facilitates the identification, assessment, and management of cybersecurity capabilities and services, expressed as security controls, and authorizing the operation of information systems and platform information technology (PIT).

DISA ID released the RFI March 17. Responses are due by April 8.
