The Defense Department aims to set up state-of-the-art, affordable shared services contract to support the IT functions of the Defense Health Agency (DHA) and the Military Health System.
DOD is exploring the idea of a five-year indefinite-delivery indefinite-quantity contract, according to a sources-sought notice released Dec. 23. In an updated notice issued Jan. 7, officials said they have no anticipated release date for the request for proposals.
DHA is analyzing support to find cost and performance efficiencies and to improve interaction with customers. Task orders are expected for help and service desk support, but the scope will include customer service and system and application management for other medical IT initiatives. DHA may work on network infrastructure, virtualization and joint-active directory support as well.
Beyond those efforts, the contract may reach into evolving medical IT initiatives, such as web-based collaborative environments, DOD Electronic Health Record, medical collaborations within DOD agencies and Veterans Administration.
This contract would be a successor to a contract awarded to HP Enterprise Services.
DHA’s mission is meeting the medical needs of the combatant commanders of the military services, ensuring service members are medically ready to perform their mission.
DHA is accepting responses to the notice through Jan. 22.
