BAE Systems makes $232.5M commercial cyber deal

BAE Systems has acquired Perimeter Internetworking Corp. in a $232.5 million deal that helps BAE grow its Applied Intelligence commercial cyber business.

Perimeter Interworking Corp., which trades as SilverSky, is an independent cloud-based managed security services provider operating in the cyber market.

The company provides services such as email protection, network security and managed applications to over 5,500 customers in the financial services, health care, energy and critical infrastructure sectors, among others, BAE Systems said in a release.

SilverSky is a good fit for BAE Applied Intelligence due to its cloud-based email and network security solutions, its expertise in marketing and engineering and its experienced management team, said BAE CEO Ian King.

In addition to its U.S.-focused business, New York, N.Y.-based SilverSky also brings with it a growing business in Europe and Asia. The company also does work in the Philippines, the company said.

SilverSky is anticipated to generate sales for the year ended Dec. 31, 2014, of around 475 million, BAE Systems said.
