Lockheed wins $103M eCASS contract to improve aircraft maintenance

Lockheed Martin has won a $103 million contract to provide the Navy with new automated test systems meant to increase aircraft mission readiness.

Under the contract, Lockheed will produce 36 electronic Consolidated Automated Support System stations, or eCASS stations, and associated support equipment.

The eCASS, which will replace the current CASS test equipment originally fielded in the early 1990s, will be used by sailors and marines to troubleshoot and repair aircraft assemblies at sea or on shore, allowing them to return equipment to readiness status quickly and efficiently, the company said in a release.

The first eCASS system will be delivered in November 2014.
