L-3 Communications has won a $30 million contract to provide Korea with Ground Laser Target Designators.

Under the contract, awarded to L-3’s Warrior Systems-ALST business, the company will provide Scarab GLTD systems, conduct in-country operator and maintenance training, supply spares and establish and maintain a full-range, multi-year logistics support capability, the company said.

The company’s Scarab system is a modular laser designator that is equipped with rangefinding and an infrared thermal imager, which provides the system with accurate target designation during both day and night, L-3 said.

The contract brings the company business in a “strategic new business area for L-3, which expands our market share and creates near-term international opportunities for our advanced imagine product line,” said Steve Kantor, L-3 Electronic Systems president.
