Northrop insider tapped as new VP in Space Systems business

Northrop Grumman has named Carol Erikson vice president of engineering within its Space Systems business.

As vice president, Erikson will lead engineering efforts for the James Webb Space Telescope, the Space Tracking and Surveillance System, the Tactical High Energy Laser and other related programs, the company said in a release.

She will also support programs within the research and technology area of the company’s Aerospace Systems sector.

Erikson joined Northrop Grumman in 1987 as a systems engineer. She later served as the director for Mission 1 system enhancement and captures, deputy program manager for program integration on the Advanced Mission Programs portfolio.

She was also project manager for payloads for the National Polar-orbiting Operational Environmental Satellite system, the company said.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science and electrical engineering from Stonehill College and the University of Notre Dame, and a master’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of South California.
